Florida's average gasoline price rose to $3.93 per gallon July 20, up 12 cents from a week earlier as geopolitical tensions and summer travel increased fuel costs, according to AAA.

Florida's average gasoline price climbed to $3.93 per gallon July 20 after rising 12 cents over the past week, according to AAA data. Prices briefly reached $3.96 per gallon last week, the highest daily average since early June, before easing over the weekend. AAA attributed the increase to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and strong summer travel demand. The statewide average remains slightly below the national average of $4 per gallon but is 84 cents higher than a year ago. Florida gas prices first topped $4 per gallon in late March before declining in mid-June. In Southwest Florida in June 20, Charlotte County had the lowest average price per gallon at $3.89, followed by Lee County ($3.96) and Collier County ($3.99).
