Florida drivers are paying less at the pump as gas prices continue to decline statewide. According to AAA data, Florida’s average price for a gallon of regular gasoline fell 32 cents over the past week to $4.04 on June 1. The decline comes as oil prices have retreated amid optimism surrounding negotiations that could reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route. The average price is also down 25 cents from a month ago, although it remains nearly $1 higher than a year ago. In Southwest Florida on June 1, Charlotte County had the lowest average price per gallon at $3.90, followed by Lee County ($3.94) and Collier County ($4.11).
