Florida ranks in the middle of the country for monthly student loan payments, according to a new WalletHub study. The personal finance company ranked Florida 26th among the 50 states, with borrowers making a median monthly payment of $203. Nationwide, 42.6 million Americans collectively owe an estimated $1.72 trillion in student loans, averaging nearly $40,500 per borrower. WalletHub found median monthly payments ranging from $160 in Wyoming and Arkansas to $258 in Vermont. Massachusetts ranked second at $250, followed by Maryland and New Hampshire at $249. WalletHub based the rankings on consumer data measuring median student loan payments by state.
