An illustration from Booking.com for Business highlights a national survey finding that 75% of business travelers exceed their company travel budgets at least sometimes. The July 2026 survey of 600 U.S. professionals also found that nearly half reported spending more than $1,000 on a typical one-night domestic business trip.
Florida ranked third among states for the share of surveyed U.S. business travelers reporting budget overruns, according to a 2026 Booking.com for Business survey of 600 professionals. Nationally, 75.3% said their work trips exceeded company budgets at least sometimes, while 39.3% reported overruns often or most of the time. Nearly half said a typical one-night domestic business trip cost their employer more than $1,000. The survey also found that 34.8% spent at least $50 of their own money on a typical trip. The findings come as companies prepare their 2027 travel budgets.
