HCA Florida Healthcare celebrated the opening of its new freestanding emergency room Oct. 12 at 16944 Vintage Commerce Blvd., near Alico Road and Three Oaks Parkway in south Fort Myers. The 24-hour facility, operated by HCA Florida Lehigh Hospital, features 11 exam rooms and on-site laboratory testing, X-rays, CT scans and ultrasound services. The project is part of HCA's $134.5 million investment in Lee County announced in February 2025, which included acquiring Lehigh Hospital and two existing freestanding emergency rooms. HCA also plans to build a $300 million, 100-bed hospital on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral, with construction scheduled to begin in 2027 and opening anticipated in 2029, further expanding its Southwest Florida health care network.
