Collier County will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 1 for the $23 million Immokalee Area Improvements Project at the new CAT Immokalee Transfer Station, 155 Immokalee Drive. Funded in part by a $13 million federal TIGER Grant, the project added 22 miles of sidewalks, 5 miles of bike boulevards, 32 upgraded intersections, 22 bus shelters and new drainage and lighting systems. The upgrades also include the new transfer station, which features bus bays, platforms, restrooms and Americans with Disabilities Act improvements, enhancing safety, connectivity and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists and transit riders.
