La Ola Surfside restaurant has permanently closed its Bell Tower location in south Fort Myers to focus on reimagining and rebuilding its original Fort Myers Beach site. The restaurant at 13499 S. Cleveland Ave. closed after business Oct. 29, owner Tom Houghton announced on Facebook. Plans continue for a new multilevel La Ola Surfside in Times Square, featuring a large live-music patio, a second-floor tiki deck and a full-service bar and restaurant. Construction on the project is expected to begin in spring 2027. La Ola’s Fort Myers Beach location at 1035 Estero Blvd. remains open until construction begins.
