Lee County commissioners approved a $1.5 million contract to pave 21.1 lane miles of currently unpaved roads throughout Lehigh Acres. Russ Berner Construction Inc. is expected to begin work in November on 94 road segments, ranging from a few hundred feet to more than 1,000 feet. The county Department of Transportation annually budgets between $1 million and $1.5 million to convert unimproved roads to paved roads. Roads are ranked using factors including their condition and the number of new homes built along them. Since the paving program began in fiscal 2023, Lee County has converted about 52.7 lane miles of unimproved roads in Lehigh Acres.
