Lee County Commission Chambers in downtown Fort Myers

The Old Lee County Courthouse at 2120 Main St. in downtown Fort Myers is home to the Lee County Commission Chambers. Regular Board of County Commissioners meetings are held there on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

Lee County commissioners approved a $991,300 contract Oct. 20 to strengthen shoreline protection near the Punta Rassa Boat Ramp at the mainland entrance to the Sanibel Causeway. Fort Myers-based Earth Tech Enterprises will install interconnected concrete mats designed to reduce wave erosion and stabilize the shoreline. The project will extend from west of the boat ramp around its parking area to the southern tip of Punta Rassa. Funded through federal Hurricane Ian disaster recovery grants, construction is expected to begin in late 2026 and finish in spring 2027. The boat ramp, at 15001 Punta Rassa Road, will remain open during construction, although portions of the parking lot may close temporarily.
