Lee County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office will host its seventh Big Shred event from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 14 at the Lee County Elections Center, 13180 S. Cleveland Ave., along U.S. 41 in south Fort Myers. Residents can drop off confidential documents for free, secure shredding to help prevent identity theft. Documents must be placed in boxes; plastic bags and electronics will not be accepted. Clerk Kevin Karnes launched the twice-yearly event in 2023. Since then, the program has securely shredded more than 45,000 pounds of documents.
