Lee County will break ground on the Southeast Advanced Water Reclamation Facility, a $200 million project off Green Meadow Road near Allco Road in the Estero area, designed to process up to 10 million gallons of wastewater daily by 2029. The state-of-the-art facility will provide reclaimed water for uses such as lawn irrigation and reduce strain on existing treatment plants as the population grows. County officials said the technology will deliver higher-quality water than typical treatment plants, while some residents voiced concerns about impacts to wetlands and flood control, WINK News reports.
