Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District broke ground Oct. 26 on a new fire station and training facility at 1250 Village Lakes Blvd., off Williams Avenue north of Lee Boulevard in central Lehigh Acres. The complex will include the district’s first dedicated firefighter training facility, allowing crews to train locally rather than travel to Fort Myers, keeping more units available for emergency calls. The district also received more than $4 million in federal grants to hire 21 additional firefighters across three shifts. Construction is expected to be completed in 2028.
