The FAA has approved new flight paths for Naples Airport starting Oct. 2, designed to enhance safety, improve efficiency and reduce noise for nearby neighborhoods. The changes include steeper approach slopes of 3.5 degrees, raising aircraft altitude during landing and shifting holding patterns higher and over less populated areas such as the Gulf and the Everglades. The Naples Airport Authority worked with Hughes Aerospace to design and test the modifications, which were approved after May test flights. Executive Director Chris Rozansky said the updates reflect a commitment to safety and community quality of life. Naples Airport has invested more than $10 million in noise abatement since 2000 and enforces a voluntary nighttime curfew with 98.7% compliance.
