Naples Grande Beach Resort will temporarily lay off 235 employees as it closes for a major renovation beginning in early April, according to a filing with the state under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. Pyramid Naples Management said the layoffs will occur within 10 days of April 3 and are expected to last until the resort reopens to the public. The 474-room beachfront resort plans to shut down from April 1 through Dec. 31 for a comprehensive overhaul that will include redesigning guest rooms and suites, expanding dining options and upgrading the lobby, spa, event spaces and pool areas. Rhode’s End restaurant, Clam Pass beach services, select villas, the Naples Tennis Academy and Naples Grande Golf Club will remain open during construction.
