City officials and community leaders participate in a groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of reconstruction on the Naples Pier, which was heavily damaged by Hurricane Ian.

Naples officials marked the start of reconstruction on the hurricane-damaged Naples Pier with a ceremonial groundbreaking this week, launching an estimated 18-month rebuilding effort. The pier, a longtime community landmark, was left largely destroyed by Hurricane Ian and has remained closed since the storm. City leaders said the project is critical to restoring tourism and community morale. The rebuilt pier is expected to reopen by summer 2027, aligning with broader regional efforts to restore coastal infrastructure damaged during recent hurricanes, WINK News reports.
