Nearly 1,000 Lee County students explored careers in construction during the sixth annual Build My Future Career Trade Show on Oct. 22. Organized by the Lee Building Industry Association, the event gave students hands-on experience with welding, masonry, air conditioning systems, bridge building and heavy equipment. Local construction companies and industry professionals demonstrated their trades and discussed employment opportunities with students. The event, held during Careers in Construction Month, aims to introduce young people to skilled trades and help develop Southwest Florida’s future workforce. Some participating companies have hired workers through the event. Organizers plan to return next year, WINK News reports.
