Suffolk and the Lee County Port Authority celebrated the topping off of Southwest Florida International Airport’s Terminal Expansion Project Phase 2, marking placement of the final steel beam on a more than 513,000-square-foot structural addition. The multiyear project will add a new 14-gate Concourse E engineered to handle 10,000 to 15,000 additional passengers per day, plus expanded TSA checkpoints, retail space and airside improvements. Suffolk is using advanced construction technology, artificial intelligence-powered site documentation and tightly coordinated logistics to keep work on schedule while the airport remains fully operational. Officials say the expansion will enhance security, passenger flow and overall travel experience at RSW.
