The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation awarded $130,000 to the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools to support college and career readiness programs for low-income students. The funding will provide workshops, educational resources and volunteer mentors to help students prepare for life after high school. Programs across all 15 Lee County public high schools focus on financial aid requirements, postsecondary education opportunities and exposure to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The Schulze foundation, established in 2004 by Best Buy founder Richard Schulze, supports education, healthcare and social services initiatives in Florida and Minnesota.
