Labor Day weekend brought excitement to anglers as recreational snook and snapper seasons officially opened across much of Florida’s west coast. At Stump Pass Marina, anglers celebrated the chance to fish under Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rules, which allow one fish per day within slot size limits to protect stocks. Local captains and longtime anglers said the dual openings make fishing trips more worthwhile, offering both sport and fresh catches. Snook season will run through the fall, with red snapper also drawing heavy interest from boaters, WINK News reports.
