Solar United Neighbors launched its fourth Southwest Florida Solar Co-op, helping homeowners and small businesses in Lee and Collier counties explore rooftop solar panels and battery storage. The free program, supported by the city of Sanibel and local environmental organizations, accepts members through Jan. 29, 2027. Participants receive roof assessments and access to competitive bids from solar installers, with no obligation to purchase. Previous regional co-ops have helped more than 50 families install solar systems, generating an estimated $3 million in lifetime energy savings. Free virtual Solar 101 information sessions are scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 16 and Dec. 10. Click here to register for the Nov. 16 session or click here to register for the Dec. 10 session.
