Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency opened applications for its new Storm Mitigation and Resiliency Grant program to help downtown businesses prepare for and recover from severe weather. The program reimburses up to 75% of eligible costs, with a maximum of $100,000 per business, for improvements such as hurricane shutters, impact-resistant windows and doors, generators, sump pumps, structural reinforcement and professional assessments. Recent approvals include Florida Repertory Theatre ($100,000), City Tavern/Hogwash ($22,000), Ford’s Garage ($67,500), Old Morgan LTD ($98,458) and Ringsmuth, Day & O’Halloran ($5,565). Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency has launched a grant program to help downtown businesses strengthen storm resiliency. Eligible improvements include hurricane shutters, flood barriers, generators and other upgrades to better withstand severe weather.
