Sunset Beach Resort rendering

A rendering shows the planned Sunset Beach Resort, a mixed-use hotel and restaurant development proposed for 1028 Estero Blvd. on Fort Myers Beach.

Sunset Beach Resort on Fort Myers Beach has changed general contractors weeks after breaking ground on the $13 million project. Developer Terry Persaud said Benchmark General Contractors and the resort owners mutually agreed to separate, with Prince and Company Construction taking over. The three-story, 41,285-square-foot resort at 1028 Estero Blvd. is planned to include at least six hotel rooms, a restaurant, a rooftop bar, and a pool. The site in the Times Square district formerly housed Sunset Beach Tropical Grill and The Playmore Tiki Bar before Hurricane Ian destroyed the building in 2022. The project broke ground July 6 and is the first major redevelopment in Times Square since Ian. Benchmark previously estimated construction would take 11 to 18 months, WINK News reports.
