Wonder Gardens in Bonita Springs received a $30,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Bonita Springs Foundation to build a Seminole Chickee Hut to replace its barn destroyed by Hurricane Ian. The open-air structure will host up to 150 guests for private events, educational programs and summer camps, offering shaded space during Florida’s rainy season. Rotary Club President Julie Pedretti said the project preserves Wonder Gardens’ history while celebrating Seminole culture. Wonder Gardens CEO Neil Anderson said the hut restores a vital space for classes, field trips and community gatherings. Wonder Gardens, founded in 1936, is a nonprofit zoological park and botanical garden dedicated to education, animal care and environmental stewardship.
