Florida gas prices fell below $3 per gallon last week. The state average dropped to $2.93 per gallon on May 11, the lowest daily average price since December 2023, according to data from AAA. The state average was 17 cents less than a week ago, 22 cents less than a month ago and 54 cents less than this time last year. The U.S. price for crude oil started last week at $57.13 per barrel and rose 5% to $61 by May 9, aligning with April’s price levels. Gasoline futures also gained 9 cents. In Southwest Florida on May 12, Charlotte County had the lowest average gas price at $2.84 per gallon, followed by Lee County ($2.88) and Collier County ($3.02).
