On Nov. 15, Cape Coral City Council voted to dissolve the appointed Board of Commissioners of the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency and voted for the council and mayor to act as the CRA board. The motion to dissolve the CRA and absorb its responsibilities was approved in a 5-3 vote Wednesday, with council members Robert Welsch, Jennifer Cosden and Tom Hayden dissenting. The new chair and vice chair were appointed at Wednesday morning’s CRA meeting, with Bill Steinke unanimously appointed as chair and Dan Sheppard appointed as vice chair in a 5-2 vote.
