Charlotte County reopened an online survey about the Cultural Center concept and property. The survey asks which services, clubs, classes and events the public would like to have when the Cultural Center is rebuilt. Public input meetings were held in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte and Englewood this week. The county took over operations at the Cultural Center in Port Charlotte, which originally closed in 2021 when the nonprofit organization running it ran short of funds. Attendance dropped dramatically during the pandemic, and the county refused to provide additional funding to the board running the facility. In September 2022, Hurricane Ian destroyed much of the campus and only the library on the campus remained operable. To participate in the survey, click here. All submissions are anonymous, and the survey will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 15.
