Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that state offices will be closed Thursday, July 3, giving state employees a four-day weekend in honor of Independence Day. In addition to the extended holiday, a 2% raise for state employees — approved in the annual state budget — will take effect July 1. DeSantis declined the raise for himself. Nearly 100,000 employees in the State Personnel System will benefit from the time off.
