Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille on Sanibel donated $7,500 to the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation to support A Week in the Field, a hands-on environmental research camp for teens. The funds were raised during the restaurant’s inaugural National Yucatán Shrimp Day 7K race May 24, which attracted more than 350 runners. The program, operated by the Sanibel Sea School, gives 13- to 15-year-olds the chance to work with scientists on field research, including turtle tracking and mangrove studies.
