Fort Myers Beach crews began moving sand April 15 to improve conditions for sea turtles as part of an ongoing renourishment project at Bowditch Point Park on the barrier island’s north end. Crews were expected to till the beach to loosen the sand ahead of nesting season, making it easier for sea turtles to dig nests and lay eggs. Trucks tilled the beach in 500-foot sections, starting near Bowditch Point Park, WINK News reports.
