Fort Myers City Council denied Tuesday the municipal lease agreement between the city and Zanzibar restaurant for vacant retail space, formerly Wise Guys Deli, which is attached to the City of Palms parking garage at 2117 First Street, Unit E. City staff ranked the restaurant first, recommending approval of the lease agreement. With Edison National Bank ranking second and considering its long-standing relationship with the city and its wishes to expand to Unit E, Council voted to deny the lease with Zanzibar and allow Edison National Bank to expand into its neighboring unit in a 4-3 vote.
