Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency secured a strategic agreement to close a junkyard operating in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Redevelopment Area. Under the terms of the agreement, the CRA contributed aid of $1.55 million to facilitate the purchase of the business operating at 3312 Edison Ave. and 2419 Henderson Ave. This funding will support the closure of the junkyard, agency officials said. The closure of the junkyard is contingent upon the successful sale of the property to Megen Construction Company Inc. If this sale does not materialize within the specified timeframe, the agreement between the CRA and the property owners may be terminated.
