City of Fort Myers seeks to prevent the type of flooding that struck the Dean Park neighborhood during Hurricane Ian in 2022. It is partnering with the National Park Service and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to create a blueway kayak recreation preserve at Billys Creek to act as a water trail throughout the city. The blueway project, which is in the beginning stages, will start at Shady Oaks and go through Village Creek and then down the Caloosahatchee River, WINK News reports.
