Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Sept. 3 to approve an $11 million construction contract with Chris-Tel Construction to renovate the South County Regional Library, 21100 Three Oaks Parkway in Estero. County officials said the renovation plans provide for separate spaces for children, teens and adults, a dedicated program room for children and teens, additional study rooms and an automated material handling system to improve the efficiency of library returns. The interior will be refreshed with new furniture and flooring, and the exterior updates will include a new roof, electrical system and HVAC system update. Construction is set to begin in late September and will take about a year to complete. The library will close for renovations starting 5 p.m. Sept. 7.
