The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted May 6 to approve the consensus agreement reached at a board workshop April 1, making some adjustments to long-term transportation planning. At the workshop, the Department of Transportation asked commissioners to consider transportation priorities for 2025. The board gave consensus to move a widening project for Burnt Store North up to a Tier 1 priority while also agreeing with the staff’s revised rankings. In addition, the board gave consensus and agreed with the staff’s recommendations regarding projects for the Midpoint Bridge Corridor and Alico Road projects. Adjusting the phasing of the Alico Road widening project will reduce the project’s cost by $2 million and allow the project to finish about nine months sooner.
