The public is invited to attend the Lehigh-Lee County Community Celebration at 3:30 p.m.  April 10, featuring both a ribbon-cutting for the newly expanded Lehigh Acres Park and a project launch for the new LeeTran Park & Ride, 1145 Village Lakes Blvd. in Lehigh Acres. The ceremony will feature brief remarks by Lee County commissioners and other officials. It also will have an air of community celebration, as other entities with services in Lehigh Acres will have displays and informational tables. The community can learn more about services offered in Lehigh by the Supervisor of Elections Office, Tax Collectors Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District, and more.

Lee County Parks & Recreation

The $16.6 million Lehigh Acres Park expansion includes three football fields with lighting, permanent restroom facilities, disc golf course, concession building, locker rooms, paved parking lot, pavilions and nature trails. The existing park was upgraded with the addition of four pickleball courts, relocation of the batting cage and construction of a covered maintenance building. A playground with a shade structure also was added.

Lehigh Acres Park was constructed in 1976. The park has baseball/softball fields, football fields, a community pool, tennis courts, picnic shelters and other amenities. The park is host to two youth athletic leagues and one adult athletic league.

 Lee County Transit

The new LeeTran Park & Ride will include four bus bays, covered areas with benches, restrooms and ADA-compliant parking spaces. The facility will also have paved bus circulation with loading and unloading areas, custodial facilities and technology support space. Village Lakes Boulevard from Williams Avenue to the western property line of the expanded park will include sidewalks, drainage and other improvements to provide access to the new facility.

The project will be funded through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Grant Fund.  The project is expected to be completed in early 2025.
