Houston-based Group 1 Automotive Inc. has expanded its presence in Southwest Florida with the acquisition of the Scanlon Lexus and Acura dealerships in south Fort Myers, company officials said.

The move brings the company’s total footprint in the area to three dealerships, following the acquisition of Estero Bay Chevrolet in 2023.

The acquisitions are part of a broader expansion that also includes a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Austin, Texas. Combined, the three new dealerships in the portfolio are expected to generate $330 million in annual revenue.

Group 1, a Fortune 250 company with 263 dealerships across the U.S. and U.K., has now acquired approximately $430 million in annual revenues so far in 2025.

John Scanlon and his family set up shop in Southwest Florida in 1980 and operated Scanlon Lexus and Acura, next door to each other on South Tamiami Trail in south Fort Myers.
