Sanibel introduced a new opportunity for property owners to rebuild stronger and safer homes after hurricanes. City Council approved a height limit exception May 6 for reconstructing buildings damaged by natural disasters, aiming to help property owners to meet flood elevation requirements. The ordinance permits an extra height exception of up to 10 feet above the existing grade, WINK News reports.
