The original Chico’s store on Sanibel celebrated its grand reopening Jan. 11, 470 days after being destroyed by Hurricane Ian. The location at 2075 Periwinkle Way, Suite 104, salvaged its original sign and some vintage clothing after the hurricane. At the ribbon-cutting, SanCap Chamber of Commerce President John Lai said Sanibel is well ahead of its original estimated timeline to rebuild, and in two to five years, it will be hard to tell a hurricane ever ripped through the area, WINK News reports.
