Physicians’ Primary Care of SWFL announced the addition of eight apprenticeships available by April 15 as part of its Medical Assistant Apprentice Program, or MAAP. The program is an initiative designed to address the critical shortage of medical assistants in the region. MAAP offers an opportunity for individuals hired for the position of medical assistant apprentice, noncertified, by providing comprehensive online classes, on-the-job training and the resources necessary to achieve certification—all at no cost to the employee. To be eligible for the MAAP, applicants must be qualified for and hired as medical assistant apprentices, noncertified. The program sets clear expectations for participants, including successfully progressing through online classes and training competencies, completing 156 hours of online classes with a minimum score of 70% within six months and finishing 1,000 hours of on-the-job training within the same timeframe.
