In the first half of 2021, tips at full-service restaurants averaged 19.9% while gratuity at quick-service restaurants was 16.5%, according to data from restaurant point of sale and management system Toast. While Toast’s most recent data shows tipping behavior at full-service restaurants has shown a slight decline, more than four years later, averaging 19.3% in the fourth quarter of 2024, tipping at quick-service restaurants, drive-thrus and kiosks dropped to 15.8%.
