The Federal Aviation Administration awarded $24.9 million to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, Lee County Port Authority officials announced. This grant comes from the Airport Infrastructure Grants program and will be used for concourse, taxiway and aircraft apron improvements. Additionally, the grant will help expand the airport’s Terminal Access Road by adding an off-ramp and three traffic lanes to accommodate more vehicle traffic transporting passengers to and from the airport. The AIG program is one of three aviation grant programs created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. To date, nearly $9 billion of the $15 billion total of AIG funding has been made available to airports across the country.
