The Tarpon Tale Inn on Sanibel Island’s east end reopened its eight rooms to guests after suffering damage from Hurricane Ian on Sept. 28. The Sanibel Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, and the inn welcomed its first guests Saturday. Joe Lavigne purchased the 27-year-old inn at 367 Periwinkle Way nine months before the storm. Hurricane Ian brought 5 feet of water into Tarpon Tale Inn, causing complete damage to electric, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, furniture, fixtures and the roof.
