Vincenzo Betulia, local executive chef and co-owner of The French and Osteria Tulia restaurants in downtown Naples, wants to build excitement for Rouge, a clandestine steakhouse speakeasy experience at The French, 365 Fifth Ave. S. A series of social media posts have promoted the back-door concept this month without providing specific details yet for Rouge—the French term for red, already a prominent accent color at The French. “It’s in the mystique-building phase, planting a seed in the community and creating interest. It will be announced in the future,” said Beth Preddy of Preddy PR in Naples. “The social media posts are meant to get people excited and interested. The announcement is coming soon.” Although the new concept is finalized, its implementation is still evolving, Preddy said. “It’s not a pop-up and it’s not a renaming of The French,” she said.
