Collier County income growth outpaces Florida

A conceptual image illustrates rising income levels, reflecting Collier County’s top ranking in Florida for per capita personal income. The county has seen a significant increase in wealth since 2020.

Naples continues to be an enclave for the wealthy. The per capita personal income in Collier County is $150,140, ranking it No.1 in the state, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Monroe County, home of Key West, comes in second at $147,760, and Palm Beach County is third at $126,852. Meanwhile, Lee County ($70,329) and Charlotte County ($59,995) are closer to the state average of $ 70,390.

The per capita income for Southwest Florida has steadily risen since the outbreak of the pandemic, but Collier, in particular, has seen a boom in wealth. Its per capita income has increased 37% since 2020, in part due to the affluent retirees who decided to make Naples home post-pandemic.

The state’s coastal counties continue to see much of the wealth accumulation in the state. Meanwhile, many of the interior counties reflect the income gap that exists in Florida. Hendry County, just east of Collier and Lee, has a per capita income of $42,202, while Glades County, the eastern neighbor of Charlotte, has the second lowest per capita income in the state at $34,547.
