Ästhetik, a contemporary spa and retail brand in downtown Punta Gorda, is moving into Fishermen’s Village in about four to five months and will overlook Charlotte Harbor in the space once occupied by the Turtle Bay restaurant.
The marketing team of Punta Gorda’s iconic dining and shopping destination made the announcement June 17.

The approximately 2,750 square foot space will be demolished and rebuilt into a modern spa and boutique, said co-founder Jen Pfropper who, along with her daughter Alexis, founded the spa in 2019. Their partner is Megan Dubbaneh.
At the beginning of their new business venture, they faced adversity. “We opened and closed the week of COVID,” Pfropper said.

At one point, the mother-daughter team didn’t know how they would pay the rent since they were unable to serve clients, Pfropper admitted.

But they used the time they couldn’t operate their spa to develop their own non-cruelty, plant-based, organic skincare products that have been written about in dozens of publications after word of their products spread.
One product in the line is an organic mineral sunscreen that is reef safe as it contains no chemicals that can harm habitat.

For the last four years the Ästhetik team has been shipping their products nationally while serving their many clients.

The new Ästhetik will be large and airy, having more stations than its present 700-square-foot location at 212 West Virginia Street in downtown Punta Gorda.

Fishermen’s Village remains in receivership, and representing the landlord in the Ästhetik lease agreement are Ashley Bloom, Corrie Gates, Margeaux McCarthy, and Bryan Myers of SVN Commercial Partners. Commercial Realtor Danny Nix of Coldwell Banker represents Ästhetik.

Ästhetik’s expansion highlights the ongoing transformation of Fishermen’s Village. The owners of Leroy’s Southern Kitchen and Bar will be opening Leroy’s Fish Shack in the space once occupied by Village Fish Market across from the Village Brewhouse at center court. An opening date has not yet been announced.

Although there are interested parties in the space recently vacated by Harpoon Harry’s and The Captain’s Table restaurants, management has not revealed further changes that are happening at what locals call “Fishville” that was built in 1980 and has grown to include resort suites and a large marina which has made it a destination.

Fishermen’s Village is on the itinerary for American Cruise Lines ships which drop anchor in Charlotte Harbor and tender passengers over to either shop at Fishville or board an American Cruise Lines bus to visit other points of interest.

Their next cruises to Charlotte County begin in November. They do not come to the area off-season.
