Union talks are underway as Collier Area Transit transitions from MV Transportation to WeDriveU. The union representing 128 CAT workers is negotiating with the new operator as employees prepare for job interviews.

Collier County awarded WeDriveU a $12.55 million contract to operate Collier Area Transit after negotiations with three higher-ranked bidders stalled. Incumbent MV Transportation plans to lay off 151 workers as the service changes hands.

More than 150 Collier Area Transit contract employees are expected to lose their jobs when MV Transportation's operating contract ends in September. Many could be rehired by the incoming contractor, but union leaders say key questions remain.
