Cape Coral is implementing increased impact fees for new residential and commercial constructions, which will go towards funding various public services and infrastructure such as police, fire support, advanced life support services, and parks and recreation facilities.

Fort Myers officials are seeking more data before deciding whether to add a police impact fee on new development, a move that could generate $9.35 million over 10 years to help fund vehicles and a new police headquarters.
