Incumbents Bill Truex and Joe Tiseo will serve another term on the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners, as voters chose them over challengers Hal Daniels, a financial analyst, and David Kesselring, a small business owner. 

All four candidates are Republicans. 

Truex’s 20,315 votes represented 64.11% of the vote against Daniels’ 11,372, or 35.89% of the 31,687 who voted. 

Tiseo’s margin was closer. He received 9,806 votes, or 51.17%, while Kesselring’s 9,359 votes were 48.83% of the 19,165 votes cast. 

Truex was first elected to the board in 2012 and has served as chairman eight times including his most recent term. He serves on various boards and committees and is president of the Florida Association of Counties. 

Truex has been involved in real estate and construction for most of his career and is president and owner of Truex Preferred Construction, which has been in business since 2005.  

He was named Florida Home Builders Association Builder of the Year in 2023 and recieved multiple building-related awards from various associations. 

Born in Indiana, Truex is a graduate of Indiana University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. 

Tiseo was first elected to the board in 2016. 

He serves on various committees, including the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Community Action Agency Advisory Board and the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority. 

Tiseo has lived in Charlotte County for more than four decades and was a member of the first graduating class of Port Charlotte High School in 1984.  

He earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Florida Southern College in 1988 and then obtained a state certified general contractors license and a real estate license.  

He opened a construction company and built and operated retail stores for more than 30 years.
