Think millennials are the ones glued to their phones? Think again.
A recent report by Nielsen says the Generation Xers (ages 35 to 49) spend the most time on social media, at nearly seven hours per week. Millennials (ages 18 to 34) did come in close, though, at around six hours per week. People over 50 spend about four hours online per week, according to the study.
The study also revealed women spend about 25 percent of their time on social media, while men dedicate just 19 percent of their time to various networking sites.
Thirty-nine percent of heavy social media users (those spending more than three hours per day on social media) say they browse social networks to find out about products and services.
It’s one thing for businesses to be on social media, but it’s better for businesses to know who’s on the other end of the network. For more information, click here.
