The Naples Design Review Board approved the design for a new 12-unit, pre-engineered metal box hangar building in the south quadrant of Naples Airport along Fuel Farm Road.
Christopher Tutor of Hanson Professional Services, Nathalie White of Schenkel Shultz and Dayna Fendrick of Urban Green Studio presented the project to the board. Plans include removing the existing North Road berm, adding a new taxiway connector to improve aircraft circulation and making drainage system improvements.
The project also includes a landscaping plan designed to preserve the view from Gordon River Greenway Park across North Road. The landscaping will provide layered screening around the hangars, with denser plantings near the building and a more open landscape toward Airport Road and the pond.

The plant palette will match landscaping already used throughout the airport, including along North Road, the general aviation terminal and Airport Road. Three repeating plant groups will include palms, trees and shrubs at varying heights to screen the hangar from North Road and Gordon River Greenway Park.
Fendrick said the landscaping is intended to allow people using the Greenway to see the plantings rather than the hangar building.
The project will go through a separate site plan review process to ensure consistency with the Naples Airport Utilization Plan before further work can proceed.
